DogeSMS in Lagos
Why we're building presence in Lagos
Nigeria's mobile market is Sub-Saharan Africa's largest by volume: MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria, Glo, and 9mobile collectively serve 220M+ active SIM connections, with A2P SMS driven overwhelmingly by USSD banking OTPs (First Bank, GTBank, Access Bank, Zenith), fintech authentication (Paystack, Flutterwave, Opay), and NIBSS inter-bank verification codes. NCC (Nigerian Communications Commission) maintains an active sender ID registration regime and has been tightening gray route enforcement since 2022, meaning quality-first operators face less competitive distortion than they did three years ago. Lagos specifically — Victoria Island and Lekki Phase 1 concentrated — hosts the continent's densest fintech ecosystem: 200+ funded startups, three licensed mobile money operators, and a generation of founders who understand carrier negotiation as a cost-of-doing-business line item, not an afterthought. OTP infrastructure that scales in Nigeria scales everywhere.
